Melissa & Doug Deluxe Easel Companion Set

My mother got the easel for my 3 year-old for his birthday so I grabbed this set to go with it. The plastic trays work very well to catch any drips or chalk dust, the paint cups have a great slanted insert that works to keep the paint drips in the cups and the paint is just the right thickness to minimize drips. The dry-erase marker dried up relatively quickly, but it really wasn’t the big attraction for my son anyways.   More Details

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel 

This easel is a must have for any parent who is considering purchasing one for their child. We got it for our two kids–5 and 2–and they immedidately started painting and writing on it. The adjustable height is a must if you’re going to have more than one child using it. Our older child can advance the paper himself when he wants to paint, but he does need help tearing if off when finished. We also purchased the starter kit, which made it easy for the initial start-up. If your child is somewhat messy with paint or chalk, I would recommend a drop cloth of some kind as it can get somewhat messy underneath the easel.
I got the easel assembled in a short amount of time. The instructions and pictures were easy to follow. This easel is a great addition to any little artist’s collection.

This easel is a great buy! Very sturdy and high quality as most of mellisa and doug products. Colorful, kid friendly and easy to put together. Both the writing boards and the trays are adjustable for the height of your child. It folds up easy, but stands strong. This easel DOES have a place for a paper roll!! I did not think it did by the amazon description (I almost bought a more expensive one for the paper roll but decided to go with this and am so glad I did) … the roll goes in the center between the boards and the paper comes up through the top and under a paper guide in front of the dry erase side. I can’t image why you would spend more on another brand of easel, this one has everything I could think of wanting and is simple, solid wood, looks good and is super functional. This is the first review I have written, but wanted to pass on how happy I am with this product.   More Details

 Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel

This is a great easel. It’s durable, it’s reasonably priced and it’s easy to adjust as your child grows. My mother purchased this easel for my five year old daughter for Christmas. My daughter loves it. She paints; she uses the chalk board and dry easer board. It keeps her busy for hours at a time.

However, this easel was like putting together a piece of Ikea furniture. When you assemble it you must be mindful of the holes on the blackboard and the dry easer board. You can easily get them mixed up and have the boards upside down. This will misalign to holes and you’ll wonder if they screwed up.

My mother also purchased the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Easel Companion Set (includes non-spill cups, brushes, non-toxic paint, easer, and chalk) with it. Everything fits perfectly together.  More Details

IlluStory Make Your Own Story Kit

Our son has written 2 books with Illustory already! He loves seeing the words that he writes typed onto the pages (by the company) and the drawings he does come out beautifully printed on the book. He is so excited and proud of himself when he shows his friends, family and teacher his publications! The book even comes with an About-the-Author page just like real published books! Everything that you need to write and draw is provided in the kit and the instructions are very easy to follow. In just a few weeks you get back a real hardcover book! The experience was so terrific, we plan on having him write a book each year so he can see how much his writing changes year after year.
